More about the Author
Elvin Liang was a former Tax Accountant (Individual & Expatriate Taxes) with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, who graduated from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering, Materials Science. His choice in career pursuit was sparked by the various internships he undertook at DBS (Securities and Custody Ops) as well as in Standard Chartered Bank PLC (Leadership Management Development) as a student.
If you’re not sure what a tax accountant does, watch the clip below:
He then skipped on his journey into the business world opening fresh perspectives as a Regional Manager of a glass processing plant, Future Architectural Glass LLC. Here, he has expanded the business reach to South-East Asia from their Headquarters in U.A.E. He left the company with valuable insights into the construction, land development and building materials industry.
Apart from his entrepreneurship pursuit, the creative nature within and the geeky-side of him nudged him to venture into the hobby of 3D printing. He has also started up a small studio Print 2 Life Studios where he collaborates with creatives and the local 3D Printing Community (helmed by Funbie Studios) to work on interesting projects, fusing traditional media with 3D printing. He now does this freelance and specialises in jewellery design.
Elvin was a personal banker at United Overseas Bank, with the aim of helping clients and prospective customers of the bank to plan and achieve their financial goals in sure, steadfast steps set within realistic expectations. He has experience and is familiar in advising on bank deposits, insurance and investments.
Elvin was an ex-remisier at UOB-Kay Hian (the broking arm of UOB) and is also an active trader. As a daily routine, he also screens stocks on the US, Shanghai, HK and German Indices in addition to the usual Singapore Stock Exchange, applying both fundamental and technical analysis for his next trade. He aims to grow his portfolio by 250% in the coming year. He relies heavily on the use of a free charting software, Chartnexus, for his technical analysis (click here if you’d like to download for free).
